The Telangana High Court, on Friday, issued an interim bail order for a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of the order copy.
The actor’s arrest followed the death of a 35-year-old woman, Revathi, and injuries to her nine-year-old son, Sri Teja, during a stampede at Hyderabad's Sandhya Theatre on December 4. Overcrowding at the premiere led to chaos, and the incident sparked widespread criticism of inadequate crowd management.
An FIR was lodged against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The Hyderabad police alleged that neither the theatre nor the actor’s team informed authorities about his visit, which contributed to the mishap.
Following his arrest at his Jubilee Hills residence, the actor was sent to 14 days of judicial custody. However, his legal team argued that Allu Arjun had no knowledge or intent to cause such an incident. The court, after reviewing the plea, granted interim bail, providing temporary relief to the Pushpa 2 star.
Meanwhile, three others, including the theatre owner and two staff members, were also arrested for their role in the mishap. Authorities continue to investigate the incident to determine accountability and ensure justice for the victims.
The tragic stampede has raised serious concerns about crowd management and safety measures at large-scale events, casting a shadow over the release of the much-anticipated Pushpa 2.
